Please join Slow Food Philadelphia for a book group! We will be discussing Endangered Eating by Sarah Lohman. The author will be there to talk about her experiences traveling the country in search of eight foods that are on the Slow Food Ark of Taste: Coachella Valley Dates, Hawaiian legacy sugarcane, Navajo-Churro sheep, Straits Salish reefnet fishing (salmon), Anishaabe wild rice, heirloom cider apples, Choctaw filé powder, and Carolina African Runner Peanuts.
Sarah Lohman is also the author of Eight Flavors: The Untold Story of American Cuisine. Her work has been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Washington Post. Formerly the Curator of Food Programming at the Lower East Side Tenement Museum, she currently works with institutions around the country to create public programming focused on food. She lives in Las Vegas.
